                          wisdom.

**Note: In this textbook, the author uses quotes from inmates which contains profanity.
While the school staff does not agree with the use of this language, the author is allowing
the chaplain student to glimpse the reality of working and ministering to individuals that
are in a dark and sometimes painful place in their lives.

DV 5243 The Principles of Prison Ministry Textbook
Dr. Tommy Seay, Jr. / Dr. Lawrence Burkes
Many churches have sent teams of ministers into prisons, and nearly two-thirds of them
have returned to their churches defeated. The Principles of Prison Ministry serves as a
manual for such teams, giving volunteer chaplains a far better view of what prison ministry
is all about. This course will help navigate you through some of the trouble areas in this
                          difficult world of prisons.
